I guess it needs to be tough as old boots and be capable of playing cd's/ mp'3's / line-in / radio blah blah... I guess the two main factors are ROBUST AND LLOOOUUUDDDDDD! Anyone any suggestions...? However, these cost big money. Quoted for truth! I have a studio style setup at home (I produce dance music in my spare time) and I have a pair of Mackie HR624 monitors (sound quality is incredible). I can boost them quite loud, but if I overstep the mark the speakers LED's will flash red that I'm overdoing it and cut the volume down for me. Big big money though, I wouldn't spend such cash for student use tbh!
