triggmiester Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Got a customer with a Dell Inspiron 1150 laptop, XP Professional. Everytime you plug in an external hard drive or flash drive it blue screens. I have searched for Blue Screen error messages on Microsofts websites, but there are onyl numbers displayed never a error message. Have re-installed the USB drivers, run AV and anti spyware just in case. Tried plugging in a powered USB Hub but the same problem occured when I plugged that in even though there was nothing plugged into it. Does anyone have any ideas or come across this before. Thanks in advance Stu
mattx Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 What's in the event log ? [ If it has BSd then there should be a log for it with the relevant dump info..... ]
triggmiester Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 Haven't got the laptop at the moment, will post when I collect it again
YorkshireTechie Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 i have had this problem before and it was the usb port that i was plugging the drives into that was faulty, used a different usb port and it was fine.
