XP Print Spooler

I was wondering if anyone else has ever had the same problem.

 

Ive got a laptop and its running xp sp2 and im using Viglen Classlink... the problem im having is that the print spooler starts for a minute and then stops and wont restart, if i manually restart the service it stops in a minute....

 

This is causing issues when the local machine is trying to map printers from the server. ive checked the event logs and i am getting the following

Event Source: Service Control Manager

Event Category: None

Event ID: 7031

Date: 16/05/2006

Time: 10:03:48

User: N/A

Computer: LAPTOP-001

Description:

The Print Spooler service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service.

the above is the first event and then they follow as below

can someone help me out, cause its really doing my head in..

Has it always done this? Or is it a new development? If its new have you added any new drivers etc recently?

this problem is only happening on the one laptop... they only printers that get installed onto the laptop are from the server and we are not having any probelms with any of the other machines on the network....

 

I have looked in the print spooler folder and its empty.... it wont map any printer to the machines for it to send print jobs....

This may not be helpful but i've encountered a problem like this before with a set of Sony Vaio laptops (Which, alas, I never did manage to satisfactorily resolve). By any chance is the machine connecting via a wireless network?

GO to http://www.eventid.net and in the search box enter the event id you are having ( which for you is 7034 and 7031 ) it will bring up a page that will explain various things ( click on the comment that is most relevant to your issue(s) and then it will show you an M number ie M823890 -- replace the M with kb or ms or w/e and that will give you the MS KB article number you need afaik ).

 

That should get you pointed in the right direction ( hopefully )
