Unique printer driver in user profile?!?

Hi guys,

 

Trialling some new MFDs. I want to use the user account control and authentication. To do this, individual users will need to go into the properties of the printer and input their PIN on each print. Obviously not practical.

 

Is there a way I can save a custom copy of the printer driver in theor individual profile areas? I will manually input the unique codes and save in appropriate profiles.

 

Does that make sense?

 

Help greatly appreciated. Using Akhter Jigsaw if that helps.

What OS are the clients/server?

It's for account control on the printers Domino. The printers have a list of account numbers in them. When the user prints, they input their unique account number and it goes onto their account.

 

I can then pull off reports from the printers.

 

Clients are XP. Server is 2003.

We use Panasonic, canon and sharp copier here which all have account control. Each have a system that allows for the user to input the number when printing. This can then be reported on for audit purposes

sorry meant to say that we set ours on the server and the box will pop up when the user prints, there is no user unteraction other than to type ijn the code

Yep, ideally that is what i'd like but these sharps dont have that as an option. Not as stock anyway

We always had a number needed on the machine when photocopying, and had all printing logged by the print management software we had.

 

Sorry - Couldn't really tell you if its possible, but doesn't sound feasible.

They are Sharp MX-2600's Mcshammer.

when you go into printing defaults do you get a tab for job handling?

 

if so you need to tick auto job control review
