Andie Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Has anyone created dummy user accounts in Kaleidos, to use as pracice/support accounts, as the site admin account may not be able to access teacher-type information? I know there is supposed to be a spreadsheet that you an edit, but RM says it needs NI numbers to create staff and, I think, UPN numbers for pupils. Has anyone tried creating dummy accounts with dummy NI numbers and UPNs?? I could try it, but if someone else has already had a go and can give me some tips, it would save me some time!
russdev Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Right all need to do is make sure that for the upn number use your dfes code. So XXXXXXX01 XXXXXXX02 Again for NI use two letters and dfes code for example: - FFXXXXXXX01 That way should be ok students need to have unique UPN & surname TEC Article here: - Log In Hope this helps. Give me a buzz if get into anymore trouble with it... Russ 1
Andie Posted December 21, 2008 Author Posted December 21, 2008 Thanks, Russ. I had looked over that TEC article earlier in the month, but obviously hadn't read it well enough and missed the bit about using dfes codes. Dummy accounts should help with some of the support headaches I've had, at least.
Phil_pjb Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 (edited) We have been using Manual provisioning for our Pupil referal units - somewhere for kids to go when in limbo between school and exclusion if you like... The child is still registered at their original school so you can't add them to the PRU MIS with a CTF transfer, it doesn't like dual registered. The work around for us was to create a ficticious child with details, it didn't seem to care about the details for the UPN aslong as it started with a letter and ended with a number and was "Unique". Using the school DCSF number will further ensure you are using a unique number if all school that need these type of accounts follow suite. :-) BTW - they are developing Kaleidos to deal with dual registered pupils in September 2009 release..... after thought or what? Andie Posted January 26, 2009 Author Posted January 26, 2009 Just a thought... If you add dummy users, aren't you charged extra? Kaleidos seems to charge on a per user basis, apart from parent users who don't have any storage space. If I add an extra teacher and a pupil, I wonder if that will put up the cost by £12????
