Gatt Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Is this Windows XP? If so get a WinXP disc, boot to the recovery console and expand a new copy of ntoskrnl.exe - make sure it matches the correct Service Pack though!! Not tried it in Windows Vista - but again you need the DVD or the Windows Recovery Environment WIM on your WDS server...
Sirbendy Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 check the boot.ini...bootcfg/rebuild might sort that out. I've had a few go that way.

LeMarchand Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 (edited) I'm getting that on a server at one of my schools. The server has been on it's way out for a while, though. Bizarrely, physically unplugging the server from the power supply for a few seconds allows it to boot OK! Still looking for a long-term fix as SMT too tight to replace server. kmount Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 If once you've done that one it whines about another file, do a "Repair Installation" from the WinXP Disc.
plexer Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 You may find that the reason it can't find that file or any others could be the hard drive on it's way out. My brother in laws laptop did this last weekend I'm currently looking for a new hd for it. Ben
