AceDaz Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Hi Has anyone had the problem of the Server and Workstation Service stopping unexpectedly? All my 2003 servers on the curriculum network has this problem, but strangely my admin 2003 server doesn’t. I have googled with no success, its frustrating Anyone got any ideas?? Cheers! Daz
AceDaz Posted December 10, 2008 Author Posted December 10, 2008 Nothing out of the ordinary, I have set the Workstation and Server services to automatically restart if they stop. They start ok for a while. Something springs to mind about the SvcHost.exe having a problem on a few of the workstations, I just put it down to needing re-ghosting. I have done a anti virus scan with Sophos and also with the Live One Care. The only entries out of the ordinary are: Event Type: Error Event Source: Service Control Manager Event Category: None Event ID: 7032 Date: 09/12/2008 Time: 16:36:34 User: N/A Computer: ALBANYFS01 Description: The Service Control Manager tried to take a corrective action (Restart the service) after the unexpected termination of the Windows Management Instrumentation service, but this action failed with the following error: An instance of the service is already running. For more information, see Help and Support Center at Events and Errors Message Center: Basic Search. Event Type: Information Event Source: AeLookupSvc Event Category: None Event ID: 3 Date: 09/12/2008 Time: 16:36:34 User: N/A Computer: ALBANYFS01 Description: The Application Experience Lookup service started successfully. JonQueST Posted December 22, 2008 Posted December 22, 2008 (edited) I am having the same issue as you. It is happening on 4 Windows 2003 SP1 Citrix servers. These articles relate to the issue I am having: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/910666 and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/895575/ Will try applying the patch to a Development server and see how it goes.
