Office 2007 compatability pack and file associations - Help required and warning...

Wasn't sure if I should post this here or in the Office Form (Or possibly "behind the red door".... :p ) but I plumped for here.

When Office 2007 was released the fist thing I did was download and deploy the Office 2007 Compatabaility pack from Microsoft on my machines running Office XP. Predicting, correctly, that some pupils would "acquire" the software, save their documents in 2007 format and try the excuse of "the computers here can't open it".

Last year I migrated all the machines here to Office 2007 but like an idiot I forgot to remove the compatability pack first.

The other day I thought it might be nice to tidy up and remove the compatability pack. This was a mistake. Removal of the compatability pack removed all the file associations for docx, xlsx etc etc. Even though I had office 2007 installed the computer didn't know what applications to use to opne them!!!

Does anyone know a way to set file associations through GPO's? If not I would suggest removing the compatability pack before installing Off2K7!
