Snuffkins Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Hi all, I'm having a problem with a test install of sharepoint 2007 standard running with SQL 2005. Both are trial versions. When i create a new site and try to edit it i get the message telling me i'm 'editing a shared version of this page'. I couldn't find anything that helped me really so i uninstalled sql and re-built the sharepoint server. Re-installed everything and it's still the same. It was working originally so i'm not sure what happened. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I haven't fully rebuilt the sql server box yet just uninstalled and re-installed. So i'm going to try that. But i'd like to know what caused it and if there's a way of stopping it for future reference. Many thanks, Phill.
jamesb Posted December 3, 2008 Posted December 3, 2008 Try going to Personalize this Page rather than Edit Page. Personalize this page will be under your personal actions menu. Edit Page edits the shared version.
Snuffkins Posted December 3, 2008 Author Posted December 3, 2008 Thanks for that. I've actually found out that nothing was broken just a certain member of my team who'll remain nameless was telling me that he couldn't edit the pages at all because of this. It turns out that hewas using the incorrect type of site for what he wanted to do. Nevermind, Thanks for the help. Phill.
