Moodle uploads

Is it possible to FTP files and then access them through Moodle, in terms of SCORM packages which are over 2MB, or is the only solution to modify the PHP config file to allow larger uploads? The drawback being that this will presumably affect other upload scripts on the same server. I have a vBulletin forum on the same server.

Well since you can upload any other types of files into Moodle, via ftp I don't see why SCORM should be any different - you just upload and then use the SCORM option on the Moodle course page. In fact, come to think of it, it's bound to be fine.

only thing i can suggest is try it.

 

if it doesn't work scrap the idea and change the 2meg limit in php.

of course you can set the max limit to 2meg in the amdin panel and change the upload limit when you need to upload scorm files.

on one of my test ones - works fine as I thought it would - just same as ftp-ing any file/folder into Moodle course page. Mind you , you do need to know the number of the course it is going to go into.

So where am I placing the file? I put it in the files directory but that doesn't work.

via ftp? Ok go to the course you want to put it in and look at at its url and it will have a number (assuming you've already uploaded sth into the course files - if it's empty just upload something at random) It will then generate a numbered folder - according to your moodle set up you'll find the moodle folder with the course files in moodledata (or uploaddata) - there will be folders with numbers - put it in the one of your course. Then when you go back it will be available in the SCORM option

I sometimes sftp very large SCORM files to moodle to get around a (self imposed)php file size limit for teachers. I upload a small file of the same name as my scorm.zip so that moodle database knows about it, search for it in the ./moodledata/ directory then replace the file with the file that I sftp.
