i've got 2 seagate freeagent usb drives, 320 & 500. for no good reason my main pc has decided it doesnt like them anymore. One doesnt recognise at all now! Yet they work perfectly fine on other computers. what I want is to turn them into network storage devices. should have bought one of those originally doh but

the possibility I can see is

find a low power consumption pc. install either windows xp or linux, share devices on network. i can put it all in a room, i hardly go in near the router. (could it be done off a livecd?)

but are there any other possibilties?
