mikeymike Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 hello i have tried all chkdsk commands and they all get to 25% then say the volume appears to contain one or more unrecoverable problems. is it new hard disk time do you think??

sammy Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 In my experience.....once you start to have hdd issues its time to get a new disk....flattening and reformating sometimes buys you another month or so...but never have i seen it solve anything longer term. Scrap the disk and start with a new one.
kmount Posted November 20, 2008 Posted November 20, 2008 It might be worth downloading the manufacturer's tool which will interogate it and see whether there are any bad sectors amongst other things. I agree that any types of failure are pretty definitive on a hard disk, but some times, especially if the machine has been "badly" powered down, it can be a red herring when you have a duff partition.
