beeswax Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 does anyone know how to create the centre section of a moodle site front page as text only? no forums, news or category lists. I just want to have a general welcome massage. what I've found on moodle hasn't been too helpful.
_Bob_ Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Hehe a massage is always welcome ... Sorry couldn't resist. The easiest way to do this may just be to create your own block with yu static text in. I created a simple block before i went away for easter, looking at it know and i haven't a clue what any of it does! Still not quite got my head around a lot of what moodle does yet.
Irazmus Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 That's easy enough Admin => Site Settings => Front Page Format => Show Arbitrary HTML or activities You can then edit the content from the front page if logged in as an admin.
beeswax Posted May 3, 2006 Author Posted May 3, 2006 I don't have Admin => Site Settings => Front Page Format => Show Arbitrary HTML or activities. My list contains News Items, List of Courses, List of Categories and Topics. I'm using Moodle v.1.5.3
beeswax Posted May 3, 2006 Author Posted May 3, 2006 I am logged in with an Admin account, or at least it's called User Admin
ChrisH Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Does he mean go to the actual page and start removing the blocks after sticking it in edit mode?
MkII Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Yeah - on the actual front page, not site admin page :- "Turn editing on" > add new block > etc...
beeswax Posted May 3, 2006 Author Posted May 3, 2006 ..but this just adds a block to the left or right side doesn't it?
Irazmus Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 It seems your list is slightly different to mine, I get this (I'm also on Moodle 1.5.3): http://www.kitching.info/moodle.png So you're after Topic section, then go back to the front page, turn editing on and edit away
beeswax Posted May 3, 2006 Author Posted May 3, 2006 ahh, I see, or at least I do now. thanks to everyone for that help.
