allow user to take laptop offline

I have a user who uses a laptop in school and wishes to take it home and work on his files offline, i thought that setting up offline files would sort it out, but he can't logon to the laptop when he's away from the wireless point. Have i set something up wrong? here's my setup.

 

The laptop authenticates using WPA and a radius server, will this stop the user from being able to log on at home when away from the wireless point. If so, is there a way round it?

 

Please can someone help, the user is one of those people that goes crying to SLT if it's not done yesterday, and i'm feeling ill as it is....

It's not offline files you need to use, but yyou want to enable "cache user logons", within the registry / GPO. This means it remembers a bunch of user ids / passwords locally, and lets them logon remotely.

 

Interactive logon: Number of previous logons to cache (in case domain controller is not available) for the machine registry, it's somewhere in Group Policies too...

Yeah, but the trouble is if you do that, they logon as the local user, and then:

a) they can't find their files (because it's on the OTHER account);

b) don't logon to the wireless network automatically;
