we redirect alot of folders such as the library/cache folder to a tmp folder in the local drive using a simple login script using ihook.

i am sure on edugeek some where

and here it is

sorry mine is for 10.4. forgot 10.5 has this function built in.

Here is what i have done.

Go into the group or computer list you wish to redirect your cache too. Then go to preferences and go to details. You then need to click ADD then navigate to /System/Libary/CoreServices/MangagedClient

This should then start to adding a few more plist preference files.

If you go to Folder redirection and click the little pen a box should come up saying something like Once, Often, Always.

If you select Always and click the new key icon at the top. then click the new item. A menu should appear saying Login Redirections, Other Redirections, Logout Redirections. If you select login redirection. Then once again click the New Key icon.

This will then make a symlink to the local tmp directory where your cache will be stored.

If you just click apply now that should do the trick :)
