mcloum Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Hello all, How does eveyone deal with Mobile dongles? do you let staff use them? We have a few staff members at school who use them as they are more reliable than our LEA provided internet. My concern is they are totally unfiltered so can be used for porn, facebook, myspace etc. More often than not they are not used in class (as far as i know) but its possible a pupil could get on a laptop with it on. ninjabeaver Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 I think you will find a clause in your AUP from your LEA for the Broadband connection that prohibits the use of anything like the dongles, a spare third party broadband line coming in etc. So be careful.
Ric_ Posted November 10, 2008 Posted November 10, 2008 Our LA worked out a deal for the Computers for Pupils scheme (I believe it is also part of OGC now too) where by dongles could be bought and the broadband conenction would be filtered to the same standard as the RBC connection. The SIMs were also locked to data only so the kids couldn't use them to make calls.
mcloum Posted November 10, 2008 Author Posted November 10, 2008 I dont think we have a AUP from our LEA.
