IanT Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Hi Guys, Just had a request........ SMT wants the kids to have email addresses......but they want 2 seperate address books (One for Teachers and Students) lists so the kids cant see the teachers name/email address..... Is this possible. Running MS Exchange 2003 Standard (soon to be upgraded to 2003 Enterprise) Thanks, Ian.
WithoutMotive Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 I don't know how this is done but all I know is it won't work if you're using OWA. OWA only supports the Global Address List and not separate ones.
IanT Posted November 4, 2008 Author Posted November 4, 2008 ooooo okies, I was hoping you would say that lol

The other thing is that assumuing you all use the same email domain it probably isn't going to be rocket science for the students to work out staff email addresses anyway so I'm not sure what you gain.

ChrisH Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 You can make 2 extra address lists just by using a filter. In my case I think I just made sure all the staff had "staff" in the description for their AD account and filtered it from there. The other step is to adjust permissions on the GAL so students cant read it.

Yep you can do this as i have done this by doing ti no the description for students and creating them in a new address list and then removing there access to the global address list.
