RabbieBurns Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Im trying to have virtual ox installed on the workstations in the computing lab, with a virtual XP install that the students can use to do stuff they need to learn but dont have access to on the normal workstations. But I cant seem to find a way in virtualbox to have just one virtual machine for all users. Ive created a virtual machine but it only appears in virtual box under the user who created it. How can I have All Users of the machine when they log in to access the one virtual machine? Thanks. RB
tmcd35 Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Does Virtual ox ( ) use file association? If so you can create a shortcut to the actual VM itself on the students desktop/start menu. This should the automatically launch Virtual Box and the correct VM when clicked.
amcevoy Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Before you start making a VM change the default location to a place accesible by all. In File -> Prefs -> General. Then launch it with a shortcut like: "C:\Program Files\Sun\xVM VirtualBox\VBoxManage.exe" startvm XP Where the VM Name is XP.

apeo Posted October 27, 2008 Posted October 27, 2008 Could i ask those who use it or intend on using... what they use it for?
RabbieBurns Posted October 27, 2008 Author Posted October 27, 2008 One of the computing classes needs to cover installing software and system settnigs etc. This way it gives them a VM they can mess about with to their hearts content.
