TheFopp Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 Got an odd one here. Our Bursar's PA's computer is printing all Excel 2003 documents twice for no obvious reason. It's not happening from Word or Acrobat Reader or any other program, just Excel. All printer settings are set at 1 copy..... Any thoughts as I'm baffled?!
mahoneycutt Posted October 15, 2008 Posted October 15, 2008 1. Try printing the spreadsheet on another computer/printer. 2. Try printing on another networked printer from his PC. 3. Are there any macros in the spreadsheets? 4. Try creating a PDF (PrimoPDF). Do you get two copies? 5. Exit Excel, search for Sheet.xlt, rename it, then print the spreadsheet again. I haven't seen this before but my guess is the problem is in Sheet.xlt. Mike Honeycutt
TheFopp Posted October 17, 2008 Author Posted October 17, 2008 Tried printing to another printer and it just prints one copy. Tried printing to Microsoft Office Document Image file and it just prints one copy. Couldn't find sheet.xlt, but renamed the other 5 .xlt files I found. Still printed 2 copies to the Laserjet 2420 No macros in the spreadsheets... this happening to all old files as well as newly created files. But everything other program on the PC (Word, Acrobat etc) is printing just one copy of there files to this printer correctly. Wierd
mahoneycutt Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008 Although other programs are printing correctly to the Laserjet 2420, your tests indicate to me the problem is with the printer driver. If I remember correctly, the Laserjet 2420 can do PCL and Postscript so try experiementing with PCL 5, PCL 6 and PS. Also, if the printer is on a print server, try directly connecting it to the PC. I would also get the latest driver from HP. I've never had to do it, but they do make ROM updates for the printer. Be sure to post the solution when you find it. Mike Honeycutt
ceejay Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 (edited) I ran across the same problem with one of my users, but with Word 2003, not Excel. All other applications printed one copy, only Word printed two. It only happened on one PC. No matter which document, no matter how large or small. Printer is a Lexmark T632. I am still unsure how or why it occurred, but I was able to resolve it. I brought up any Word document and went to: HELP menu Detect and Repair Selected only "Discard my customized settings and restore my default settings" (it will require you to close the application) Ran the installer. I wish I knew why it happened, but problem solved. Doesn't smell like a driver error, perhaps a registry glitch? I did notice that the installer program removed and re-added some regristry entries. Anyway, I hope this helps. - C Edited November 6, 2008 by ceejay
daxixi Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 I have exactly the same problem. I will post here when I found solution.
somabc Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 I saw the same problem with an HP Printer & Excel. I installed a different driver and it was fine so try either PCL6 or Postscript. The HP Universal Printer driver is very useful. HP Universal Print Driver Series for Windows - Download drivers and software - specify product name - HP Business Support Center
