I am ahving a strange problem with 2 shared printers. They are both HP laserjet 1018's which are locally attached to PC's via a USB cable. the permissions and security settings are set right.

The problem I get is when a user tries to print to the printer which is mapped accross, the job goes into the print que but does not print, it just sits there and does nothing. If i log onto the PC that the printer is attached to as a user and send a job to print it will work fine. I have no idea why this is happening, and it only happens on these 2 printers, it doesn't happen on any others.

Can someone please help????

We had this happen with some 1022's. You have to go into the printer properties, go to the "ports" tab, and uncheck "enable printer spooling".

Bidirectional printing - 'unselected' worked for me a few times with printers (on the above issue), mainly of the HP variety.

printer pooling is off in the ports tab, so is bi-directional

Printer spooling is under the advanced tab, i'm going to turn that off and try it then.
