Disease Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Hi there guys and Gals I am getting the following sims error on certain machines, bit of background. We are running sims through a vlan to access our admin network from our curriculum one. The Admin drive is mapped for the curriculum machines and the share works. On some machines when we go to run Sims we get this error "The dependency service or group failed to start [exception from HRESULT - Blahblah] : System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException Anyone with more knowledge about sims able to shed some light on a possible cause please Thanks in advance.
Mcshammer_dj Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 have you installed the SIms infrastructure onto the curric workstaions?
John_Howarth Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 Hi, this Capita Knowledge Base article may be of help. KB60707 System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException Type= System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException ErrorCode -2147023828 The dependency service or group failed to start. Advice 1. Uninstall Microsoft .NET Framework - this can be found in Add / Remove programs in the control panel. Click on Remove to uninstall 2. Run the application DOTNETFX.EXE which is located in (in most cases) S:\SIMS\SETUPS - this will re-install Microsoft .NET Framework.
Disease Posted October 9, 2008 Author Posted October 9, 2008 Nice one will try that as well, thanks for the replies.
