where is the parent proxy value??? im looking in the conf file and i cant find anything??

 

Sorry the tag I was thinking was cache_peer with the parent option.

 

I wonder if this means that anyone with default gateway on the broadband router can get on port 80 without setting a proxy value.

Perhaps that's how the subsidiary network clients are bypassing the filtering.

set router so that it will block port 80 from anyone other than connections from the proxy.

or do transparent proxying on your router. You can't do authentication if you do this though.

Websense is very VERY fussy about who, what and how it integrates, I have never got my head around it, thus swapped my skills set to try and learn all about Censornet, but the best solution which I do use with Websense is its integrated with ISA 2004, and thats it, it has Quad network cards in the server - 1 External, 1 Admin and 2 for Academic (teamed to make a 2GB connection), and that works well, infact very well (touching lots of wood). Can you not just point your clients to the server with websense on it / to an ISA server (which you need to purchase a licence to be able to use it) and then let them do the hard work
