Dodgy Edugeek Ads

I know Edugeek is in fund raising mode atm but this ad seems abit dodgy to me, not something i would expect from a professional forum.

You disagree with what? I said there are dodgy ads ie the "you are the 1,000,000th viewer, click here to collect your prize" which are the type of ads (or even viri infested links) you find on crack sites not "normal" websites and especially not professional ones.

I do agree, i wouldn't exspect to see adverts like that on here.. i dont mind the other ones but then ones saying u have won something just dont seem right.. :\

 

Might be something to do with how google is filtering the ad's again.

These appear to be pop ups and I'm pleased to say our blocking of pop ups must be working as I haven't had these. I can cope with the normal ads and with the daily thingy that's appearing now... but I can't bare pop-up ads

Just a thought but I'm pretty sure at least one person on this thread didn't actually look at the attachment and assumed "Oh, it's another complaint about the ad thing"..

 

Can I suggest anyone look at the attachment before commenting.

 

I think you'll find professionalism just about jumps out the window and sky dives into the septic tank. You wouldn't expect to see the stuff displayed in those screenshots on this site and I doubt anyone on the team did either.

Yh i agree.. i thought it was just another moan.. but its actually true.. i have the same issue... but i am under the impression these adds are like google ones.. and i think ZeroHour is just ironing them out still but i aint sure.

 

One of the Admin's will come and sort it shortly but there probs out on the drink tonight lol

That on a newspaper, you'd expect advertisements I'd guess.

I've just had a Symantec pop up take over the whole screen, no scroll bars to get past it. One more of those and ABP gets turned back on!

I dont have a problem with the Symantec Advert tbh.. its just like u say a full screen advert but i just X it off once a day its not a problem.

I know these are a bit of a pain, but they are not forever, and will be going back to you guys in the form of pizza and for those helping us out at BETT in paying for meals, taxis and all the other unexpected things that crop up. If you really want to find out what our costs are I shall get Tony to publish the bills for electricity, insurance, networking, lighting and furniture for you. Then you can sit slack jawed in wonder about how they can charge so much!!

Please bare with us, we are not doing this just to raise a huge mound of cash to spend on beer and ice cream (although I must admit the idea did pass my mind).

I had a problem with the symantec ad as well with IE7 and XP sp2. Had the give it the three fingered salute and force IE to close. It hasn't happened again (yet).

I have not even had the ad yet (no ad blockers involved) I must be lucky enough not to be part of the target audience

I have moved the ad code around. Is the ad working now for you all or not appearing anymore?

appeared again recently with the dodgy positioning so the X was unavailable, FF3 on XP. Earlier post was from FF3 on vista.

Do you realise this thread has nothing to do with the symantic ads, or even the banner ads in general. It was about the dodgy "Click this link if you would like a virus/your bank account emptying" ads which are more suited to fetish porn and crack sites than professional forums
