Terminal Services and Ranger Remote Control

Hi Guys,

 

I have a TS server and we have install Ranger Remote Control, Every time is log in as user I get this error

 

"Cannot read file C:\Program Files\Ranger Remote Control\\TS\5001.ini(80). Please check this file exists and is valid"

 

I think the problem is in the \\, but I cant find where is is referenced? Does any one have any ideas?

I doubt its the slash, as I can browse to c:\\\\\\\\\\program files and it works.

 

Does the file exist? Can the user access it?

It sounds like the Client is looking for that ini file when it starts. In the Terminal Services environment the clients are configured to use different ports for connections (as effectively they all share the same IP).

 

Probably also worth checking the client configuration using the Configurator.

Hi Paul,

 

We fixed this error by manually adding Read+Execute permissions for 'Domain Users' on the client32.ini in the Ranger Remote Control Folder, and also on every .ini file in the TS subfolder.

The files did not seem to inherit these permissions for some reason.

Rather than start a new thread this seemed a good place to raise the problem.

 

We have just installed Ranger Remote Control on a citrix box. In the room that has the student thin clients the teacher PC with tutor installed on it is a fat client.

 

The installation has raised two questions:

 

1. How do you get RRC to show the client name rather than the user logon name?

2. Is it possible to get RRC to show both thin and fat client sessions? This is primarily so that I can see from my PC what is happening in different classrooms.
