Any help on this?

I was trying to run Forestprep on the main DC and I get this error :

"Either you do not have permission to update the Acitve Directory schema or Active Directory service is currently too busy."

In preparation for running forestprep i've got the Schema Admins group, Enterprise Admins all in place and a member of the built in administrators group. I logged on as administrator as well. Disconnected the network cable from the server so that there's no one trying to access anything to do with the DC or AD itself.

Yet I still get this error! Any suggestions?

is this your only DC?

Try plugging the network cable back in, 2000 used to have problems with DNS if the network cable was unplugged.

If you need to plug it into a mini switch on it's own but at least have a link to the network card

I'd leave the network cable in and stop replication. You can use the command:

repadmin /options +DISABLE_OUTBOUND_REPL

Once it's all working okay you can re-enable replication using:

repadmin /options -DISABLE_OUTBOUND_REPL
