I have a room which has an exit button, and a fob to exit.  We need the ability for staff to disable the exit button, but for it to start working again after a set amount of time with no input.

My plan to achieve this was to have another reader, wire the exit button through one of the relays and when this reader is presented with a fob it opens the relay, disabling the button, we do something similar for timed exit buttons for gates.

This works as planned, with one small issue. I can set it to open for say 10 minutes, then the button works again.  We need for them to be able to present the card again within that 10 minutes and the timer starts again.

What actually happens is that it ignores future times the fob is presented until the 10 minutes is up, then the button works again and you can present again for another 10 minutes.  This gives a time when the button will work, until they realise, and then present the fob again.

Not sure if there is a way to achieve this with triggers and actions possibly?

You could maybe do something with triggers and actions and the second relay. You can wire the button in series with relay 2 and set a rule to turn it on for a period of time.

Do you know if triggers and actions can be triggered again when already happening, starting the 10 minutes again?  I'll have to experiment with it, but I know that door opens don't re-start the time if fobbed again.

Just searched and saw that too, was going to test it on an existing door but triggers and actions can only affect relay 2, so will give it a go once I have the new room wired up.  Thanks
