365 tenants deleted due to admin oversight

Microsoft tells nonprofits their deleted M365 data isn't coming back

 

So the non-profits did not move to a supported plan, so the tenants were hard deleted. Utlimately not unreasonable, except.....

 

...there's supposed to be a window where the tenant is recoverable, but it seems Microsoft's processes are such that that is more of a "good intention" than actual operating practice.

I hope this is followed up with a significant strong statement about the steps they are putting in place to prevent hard deletion of backups before the recovery window expires.

 

I mean you can backup SharePoint document libraries pretty easily, and even your inbox... but if you've enitrely lost Intune and Entra?

 

This is a significant breach of trust.
