Fusion 360 - removal of Streamer deployment for Labs

We've received an email to say that the existing option will be retired in early Sept 2026

"Important: Schools with Fusion installed on lab computers should create a deployment package from their account by following the instructions here.  The current process is expected to be retired in early September 2026."

Nice of them to have fully supported modern deployment methods such as Intune.... oh wait. No they only appear to support SCCM and even then don't give any instructions on what detection method to use.

 

And by default, updating Fusion 360 still requires admin rights.

Thank god, the Fusion admin installer was so much worse than the custom install method.

I've just run through the process of it and it has worked well. Deployment via PDQDeploy has been good.

 

I used a powershell script to stop and delete the task schedule for the old update process then another script to remove the application (as shown on the docs).

 

The biggest issue I have is the install script not coming to an end. Everything has been deployed. I did have an issue with the .bat file not ending, but you can edit this for the type of deployment you want. I had to uncomment the install command for silent install.

 

Otherwise - all good.
