Hello all,

If anyone has any dell latitude 5320 laptops. Can they try doing the latest BIOS update (either from dell or windows update) and tell me if they keep on turning back on when you connect a USB-C charger or not.

Have confirmed Lid Switch, wake on USB Dock and wake on AC are all disabled in the BIOS but all 25 we have just reinstalled and updated are doing this.

We have the 2-in-1's and do not seem to have this issue. although i will double check for you tomorrow.

OK, I have been pointed towards Windows Update replacing the Intel SMBus driver with an ELAN one that can cause issues, but I rolled it over to an intel one and it is still being weird, so I am trying Dell Driver updates, even though I would have suspected this one would have been a BIOS Setting

Ok people, with the help of @ICTDirect_Joe it does seem to be the SMBus driver as the ELAN one, changing it to the Intel one from the list and then rebooting the machine, it then stays shut down.

Glad I could help! Such a strange thing for Windows update to push through the wrong SMBus driver - not sure whether to shake my head at Microsoft or at Dell but at least there is a fix!

Edit: This seems to affect a variety of Dell Latitude laptops, not just the 5320 so this fix could work for many models of Dell Laptop.

FYI, I tracked now the source of the ELAN driver, it came in a driver pack for Lenovo ThinkPad L13 Yoga laptops, removing this from the drivers in SCCM/MECM/Config Manager stopped it applying.

This driver also gives a Smart Start warning on HP Elitebook devices too.
