OneDrive sync re-creating hundreds of old folders.

Hello friends,

 

Over the past week we've had three separate staff members create 600-800 folders across various SharePoint sites. I've done a few Purview reports and it looks like they were all pushed up by OneDrive SyncEngine within a 5 minute window each time.

 

• All three users are on OneDrive build 26.062.0402.0002.
• All events show ApplicationDisplayName: OneDrive SyncEngine.
• The pattern is the same each time, OneDrive SyncEngine accesses AllItems.aspx, then immediately generates hundreds of FolderCreated events.
• The affected libraries are ones users have added via "Add shortcut to OneDrive", not the Sync button (I have disabled sync button visibility this week in case that was causing issues).
• None of the three users had SharePoint libraries listed under OneDrive Settings -> Account as synced libraries. They're using shortcuts.
• Two different Windows builds affected (26100 and 26200), same OneDrive version on all

 

As far as I can tell, the folders being generated are all old / archived stuff, and the folders are always empty.

 

Any suggestions or help appreciated as always.
