Claroread launch error "You must be an Administrator to remove this application. To remove this...."

Hi all,

anyone else getting this recently? When launcing the various apps from the start menu managed users are seeing this UAC errror. What is happening is on first launch as each user a separate msi is being ran from C:\Windows\Installer.

Sadly this does seem to be per user so doesnt help to pre-lauch each app once as admin post install.

Have any of you seen the same issue and have you have any success in finding a fix?

Thanks in advance!

Has this ever worked for end users? Or perhaps did it deploy fine, load fine as an admin, and was accepted at that during testing. Looks to me like it's trying to to do a per user component, or possibly a per user update component, at first run, which is failing.

I've not deployed Claroread myself, but I would be looking for the following MSI settings in my deployment:

  • Deploy the latest MSI
  • Deploy MSI for System / All Users (probably requires editing MSI / creating MST)
  • Deploy MSI with Autoupdates disabled (probably requires editing MSI / creating MST)

And of course, test afterwards with a restricted user.
