Trying to sort out a few logon issues, I've come across this in the event log on an XP SP3 machine every time a pupil logs on:

Information

Event ID: 11728

Product: WebFldrs XP -- Configuration completed successfully.

This doesn't happen on any builds without SP3.

I found something on this website:

Security Forums :: View topic - WebFldrs

Web Folders, or WebDAV, is a file transfer protocol that supports secure file transfer over intranets and the Internet. With Web Folders, you can upload, download, and manage files on a remote computer across an intranet and the Internet. Web Folders is similar to File Transfer Protocol (FTP); however, Web Folders provides a more secure environment for transferring files over the Web

....and it sounds like it's something we don't need, so I followed the instructions to remove it.

However, when a user logs on I now get the event log entry:

Error

Event: 11304

Product: WebFldrs XP -- Error 1304. Error writing to file: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Folders\MSOWS409.DLL. Verify that you have access to that directory.

I have been looking into MS KB article 238441 to eliminate the "applying personalised settings"

Remove Personalized Settings for New Users After Installing Internet Explorer 5

which does seem to fix it on the one machine I've tried.
