ActivInspire, SMART Notebook, etc

I've been asked to obtain quotes for ActivInspire, because one of our SLT has seen it used with it's interactive maths tools and management are looking to push interactive learning. It's been well over a decade since I last dealt with ActivInspire and I am more familiar with SMART Notebook. Are these two still the best options for these sorts of tools in the class room?

 

We primarily have very (very) old Genee interactive TVs, so no Promethean or SMART boards for compatibility.

Is there much (anything?) in Activeinspire that isn't in the Spark software that came with the Genee boards?

I posed that question to the person asking for it and their reply was along the lines of:

In addition, when you annotate over a PowerPoint in Spark, the annotations don’t stay attached to the slides when you move between them, so it isn’t practical for planned teaching.

What we need is an application that supports teachers during the planning stage and can then be used as an interactive presentation tool in the classroom. This is the functionality that Active Inspire currently provides.

AFAIK, ActivInspire Professional comes with the mainline ActivPanel IWBs (i.e. not LE, LX, etc.), but otherwise there is the free "Personal Edition" available.

 

I'm unclear on if it can be purchased separately.
