PAT testing company recommendations

Hello we are looking for a PAT testing company to test around 1500 items anually. Can anyone recommend a company? The pricing for a couple of companies Ive investigated seems to be around £1-£1.50 per item if that sounds right?

 

We are based in Wiltshire, so a compnay based in the S/SW would be good.

We use PHS compliance - they charge us £97.00 for the first 75 items and £0.89 per item thereafter. Microwaves are charged at £4.00 

 

Happy to recommend as they just crack on with it.

I'm not involved in the decision making, PAT testing is considered a site team job, not an IT one, but we've used Office Test for many years.

 

The hard part is getting the chargers for staff laptops & iPads tested, as it sounds like it seems to take quite a bit of work to get someone to come in for a couple of hours during term-time for those, when it was a regular thing in the past.

For my 2 cents

 

PAT-Testing comes under Electrical stuff, under the Electrical Safety at Work Act 1989.

Which is Electrical Safety in the workplace.

Workplace is managed by site team.

Therefore a site team issue.  

 

I personally get sick of their work getting palmed off onto IT teams on lower pay and less staffing.

Agree with above views with it being a facilities issue, but....

 

Whilst a governor, we trained our facilities chap up to standard and had him do the work and then hired him out. Worth viewing the following and see if the recruited service meets the requirements. Or, facilities should do this!

I do the PAT inspections here.

We have about 700 items to test Annually (primary School)

It takes me a week, if uninteruppted. 

 

The cost to get a third party in will come in at about £650.

 

The GB deems this to be...

a) cost effective

b) a good use of my time

 

It is neither of those.

Cost effective and a good use of your time IF you do more than put stickers on things.  You are MUCH more likely to do the job properly.

I have contatced Office Test, as well as another couple, all the pricing is {unsurprisingly} pretty much the same, do you have any comments on their service?
