Jamf Users

Hi all

 

hopefully someone might be able to put me in the right direction.

 

we brought Jamf last year maybe the year before, due to expanding our collective devices and wanting to develop more  use of apple products into our network. which is going ok had a few bumps along the journey but getting the hang of *he thinks* 

 

we have just recently asked Salamander to integrate our users and classes into ASM (Apple School Manager ) and all went swimmingly well.

 

we have recently brough 60 Ipads and i want to enable Share iPad mode in Jamf, so my next step is to bring the accounts into Jamf - what is the best way ? what have other schools done and what would the DOs and DONTs would do you say

We use iPads in Shared Mode, enrolled in Jamf. My users are synced from M365 in ASM, but no classes.

 

My process was cumbersome, thankfully I only did 8:

Apple Configurator 2 on a Mac. Signed in to the school main AppleID

Join iPad to wifi manually.

Choose Prepare. Don’t try to enrol with ASM yet. Just Supervise the device.

Prepare again. Sign in with AppleID to MDM, not JAMF. Keep trying. If it partially completes, try to Resume after adding wifi back on. Don’t worry too much about a Stop error on AC2, but error means you need to add wifi back to the iPad. It should prompt that it’s setting up Shared iPad.

Assign Jamf as the MDM in ASM, via the Devices menu.

Jamf - Automated Device Enrollment – assign DEP profile. Check that the device is on wifi again!

Assign Profiles in Jamf and rename device.

Content (Volume Purchasing) – check settings in case the token becomes un-managed

Set per-user quota on the iPad in the Inventory/Device details àEdit details/Dynamic quota settings. Set the name here too.

Log on as a test user and make sure VPP apps appear. Log off and clear the user.

 

You'll surely get a process slicker than mine, especially if your iPads are already in ASM!

We've tried a few things (Securus and some others) but we now lock down our iPads using Netsupport Classroom Cloud

 

All devices registered in Apple School Manager.

 

Software and configuration managed by JAMF Pro.

 

Removed Safari browser completely using JAMF and force all users to use the Classroom Cloud Web Browser instead.

 

The web browser forces them to log in using their Google G-Suite accounts giving us a good overview of what's happening from a safeguarding point of view.
