Apple School Manager - sync of roles (staff/student) from Microsoft 365

I've neglected setup of ASM for many years, and I need to crack on a bit with it.

 

My users are in, synced from Microsoft 365 using OIDC. Great. However, they're all given the Student role (that's fine by default I guess?) I have synced their Department across from AD so it's there. Is it possible to use this to automatically manage their roles?

 

Bizarrely, when I sync the accounts across to Jamf School, they instead all appear as Staff, which isn't ideal.

 

Anyone manage this attribute?

Ours does this too, pulls all users through as students. Haven't found out why yet myself.
