papercut + server 2025, post install service not starting Error 1503

Dear All

 

hopefully someone can help, this is a strange one.

 

We installed papercut on a new server. logged in as domain admin account.

 

reboot server and the papercut application server service does not start and as a result the web interace  http://localhost:9191 does not work.

 

Error 1052 the service did not respond to the start or control request in the timely fashion.

have any of you seen this? hopefully someone can help. papercut docs do not help much

 

Tried to run service as administrator no luck. tried as system account no luck.

 

What could it be?  Sophos uninstalled as I thought that might be it. Windows Firewall disabled. Same issue.

 

Fingers crossed someone here has come across the same issue.
