Jawloms Posted August 11, 2025 Posted August 11, 2025 Currently arguing with the SIMS people as they "require" you to sync your data to SIMS Nextgen before they'll release the summer update to you. We will be coming away from SIMS at some point over the next six months so don't want to put our data in their cloud unnecessarily. Anyone else in this situation?
smarties11 Posted September 26, 2025 Posted September 26, 2025 Did you get anywhere with this? We are syncing to Next Gen however there is an issue that not all data is syncing fully, and this has been with their third line support now for 4 weeks. I haven't applied the Summer update yet because the instructions said that NextGen must be working before doing so. Do you know if there's any technical reason not to proceed with the Summer update, or whether it is simply a ploy to get people across? Has anyone successfully applied the Summer release without NextGen working fully? Thanks!
Jawloms Posted September 26, 2025 Author Posted September 26, 2025 There is no technical reason. As we intend to never use SIMS NextGen, they allowed us to perform the Summer upgrade without syncing up to it. 1
psydii Posted September 26, 2025 Posted September 26, 2025 Summer 2026 census routine is in NG only. So unless you are committed to being off SIMS before then, you will need to sync to NextGen. 1
smarties11 Posted September 26, 2025 Posted September 26, 2025 Thanks @Jawloms @psydii - yes, we are syncing to NextGen and have been for some time. It's just there is a technical issue that means not all data is going across (for example student contacts) and I've had a ticket in with ESS that I have been chasing twice weekly since the start of August!
psydii Posted September 26, 2025 Posted September 26, 2025 Hmm. I would loop in your account manager into the conversation, keep positive and usually they can dig up someone who can help, even if it is to gently say your SLT "fix your data" (not that we've had that recently, but a few years ago a huge number of "sims problems" were actually GIGO problems.) I assume the sims support person who hangs about these parts might also be able to help you move this along.
