My card reader (screenshot below) is no longer recognised by Entrysign to enrol cards even though it does scan cards and provides a token number but doesnt show up as a device in their software so doesnt assign the card i am enrolling.  It worked fine up untill last week.  Anyone bought a card reader that works enrolling mifare cards into EntrySign as a new one from them is £200!

Hello have tried to contact EntrySign no they can send you a reader may begive it a go

I have but it wasnt supplied by them so you have to buy one of theirs or just use the main screen to enroll cards which is the opposite end of the school 🤣

Hi @JazzFlute,

I hope you're doing well.

I'm sorry to hear that your reader has stopped working. We completely understand how disruptive and frustrating this can be, particularly since it had previously been functioning as expected.

While we do recommend using our own EntrySign RFID desktop enrolment readers for full compatibility with the EntrySign back-office suite, please be assured that we are not leaving this unresolved. We remain committed to supporting you and working towards restoring full functionality.

To that end, we have assigned a senior technical representative from our team to investigate the issue in detail and determine the root cause. If there is a way we can assist or provide a solution, we absolutely will.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or need further assistance in the meantime.

Kind regards,

EntrySign Support.

Thank you for speaking with us today @JazzFlute, we're always happy to help where we can, and we're pleased that on this occasion we were able to assist in getting things working for you again. We should however take the opportunity to highlight the benefits of using genuine EntrySign hardware as there is considerable added value in doing so which may not at first be apparent but are to some degree highlighted by this very issue...

Firstly, EntrySign RFID readers are multi-format, multi-frequency units and are not limited to a single technology or frequency. If for example you were to move to a different RFID technology in future, or need to support another technology in addition to your current one it is highly likely that our readers would support those cards or fobs with a simple configuration change and without needing to buy new or replacement hardware.

Cheaper readers typically only use keyboard emulation, whereas the EntrySign software communicates with our own readers directly and at a lower level which allows us to offer additional functionality. This includes the ability to manipulate token numbers in real-time ensuring compatibility and actually preventing the specific issue you experienced here where tokens read differently across different systems or hardware. With EntrySign readers we can ensure that token numbers are read consistently, including across 3rd-party solutions which we integrate with as well.

EntrySign readers can also be used to authenticate Back Office Suite users, so you can log-in to the Back Office Suite using your staff ID card or fob which is a really convenient feature especially for frequent users. Additionally, when using the EntrySign Back Office Suite to administer users, scanning an ID card or FOB on an authentic reader will automatically bring up the corresponding user's record which again is really convenient.

Perhaps most importantly however is that EntrySign hardware is tested by us and has been selected or developed specifically for it's quality, reliability and compatibility. Our hardware and software builds are tested to ensure they remain fully supported by future software releases, avoiding exactly this type of issue. Genuine EntrySign hardware also benefits from our best in class warranty of course and remain fully covered and supported along with the rest of your system under our extended support agreements. Unfortunately we're unable to verify compatibility of any 3rd-party hardware nor can we guarantee that such hardware will remain compatible with future builds and software updates so we'd always recommend purchase authentic, approved EntrySign hardware wherever possible.

Any questions, please let us know!

Kind regards,

EntrySign Support.
