Sims to Bromcom

Hi Folks

 

We are looking to move away from Sims to Bromcom, and one part of the migration, is the movment or rather not of linked docs from Sims, I am aware that Salamander can help with this.

 

Has anybody gone through this, that is able to tell me what is required, I would rather do this without Salamander if possible, as its not a product we use within our trust.

If it’s just an export for legacy purposes SIMs includes an export option now under the bulk tools

 

Or do you mean an import to Bromcom too? bearing in mind you have limited storage with Bromcom etc

Now thats a fair question, I had assumed re-importing as well, I will ask our Edu team to confirm though

Export all the linked documents from SIMS to a folder with the UPN and student name and (ideally) document title in the filename.

 

Re-import those files into Bromcom at no more than a thousand documents at a time, cursing the Bromcom DMS that times out, falls over and doesn't properly handle some punctuation in filenames.

 

(The latter part you'll have to suffer through regardless, the first part Salamander make easy).

If bromcom can't migrate linked documents, then they are not offering a migration service. Therefore you don't need to pay!
