Hi everyone,

We have recently installed (with a partner) Papercut into our environment and have had nothing but issues with it. All 3 components have been problematic (driver print, web and e-mail). It has to be the 3rd month and its still unreliable, crashes, doesn't fail over and is generally unreliable.

Things like password protected documents are causing the servers to hang, which is understandable because it can't open the file, but it seems that Papercut are surprised that this is a thing. This is one of many things... but just one that is at top of mind.

For anyone using it, or starting to use it, have you had any issues with installs? Or has it been generally reliable and easy to implement. It seems crazy that something so well used has been such a problem. I have used it in the past and it has been great, but I'm rapidly losing faith in it.

It's PaperCut MF - 24.1.7 (Build 72567 2025-05-02)

Thanks :)

Never had issues myself, but our partner/MFD manufacturer (RISO) did all the configuration for us alongside RM, who configured our server for us and deployed the printers via Group Policy.

However, RISO have a custom integration in the MFD's OS, rather than an app that is installed like other manufacturers. However, we'll be having to move away from PaperCut soon as we want to remove our server if we can, and they don't support print credits on copying on PaperCut Hive (PaperCut's their cloud-based solution) but will be on DirectPrint.io in a year or so.

Sounds like you're already in touch with support, good luck and here's to it getting working!

MF used centrally for all our schools in the trust. Rarely have to look at it. Just works. Would have to question the implementation of it if your having constant issues.

Had papercut for 2 years now. Biggest problem was when google changed their oauth authentication. I had to figure out how and where to change it on papercut to accept "APP Password" on the account it uses to scan to email.

Also.. if AD users do not have email address in their AD object then the email field in papercut is blank and they cannot scan to email.

I hope that helps?

Let us know exactly what happened? / fixes as it might help others.

We are in the middle of a papercut migration to a new DC... this is going to be a pain :(
