Olliedawg Posted June 26, 2025 Posted June 26, 2025 Anyone else having any strange issues with Applocker on 24H2? Our exam laptops were all recently moved from Win 10 22H2 > Win 11 24H2 & we keep noticing that on start-up we get the error dialog box. We can close this dialog box & it does not appear again. Checking event viewer, nothing seems to be being blocked in any of the sections (exe, msi, script..) Our exam user accounts do also have the policy configured " Run only specified windows applications " which could be playing a part? But you would think this would present the different error dialog box
Olliedawg Posted June 26, 2025 Author Posted June 26, 2025 Fixed it, seemed to be a conflicting policy which was blocking the entire Microsoft store causing the error

Is app locker the only difference between windows 11 pro and education? We are pushing windows 11 pro ... but I am seriously considering windows 11 education. Do drivers, smart or promethean totally work? Microsoft app store work?
Steve21 Posted July 21, 2025 Posted July 21, 2025 Edu is the higher version of it (Equivalent to Ent) so doesn't really lose anything compared to Pro, but has the advantages of all the Ent items too No real reason to use Pro if you have Ent/Edu licensing Steve 1

Will education set any apps as auto blocked to start with? I will not be setting anything app locker to start.. will be building it as we go along. Are there ANY downsides to using education.. I will be using it in collaboration with windows 2025. WE currrently have Windows 10 LTSC and Server 2019 which is working...
ITGuyNW Posted July 22, 2025 Posted July 22, 2025 Education is just the school licencing name of enterprise. 1
Olliedawg Posted July 22, 2025 Author Posted July 22, 2025 I don't believe anything is blocked by default in the Edu(enterprise) version. I'm fairly sure AppLocker works with the Pro versions
