Since about Monday our schools have been getting the "Sign in to confirm you're not a bot" prompt.

At the three schools with Google Workspace (or Entra ID linked to Google Workspace), that's not really an issue beyond breakings videos embedded into Powerpoint.

At the two schools who don't have it (except as a placeholder so we have it in case we ever need it) it's a bit of a faff.

ISP is aware and poking YouTube - it turns out they've been a little cavalier when applying it to whole netblocks.

I've chased it from the Google Workspace customer PoV, but as soon as they confirm it's a YouTube decision/issue it gets thrown over the fence to YouTube.

Anyone else?

We had this about a week or so before half term. Loads of schools reporting it. Seemed to be the external IP range they were using. Came back after half term and it had gone away!

I'm really curious how this is going to play out in the long run. I have seen a few other threads on here of this issue:

It seems like Google will only listen/respond if the affected company is a big player (like Securly, which is big in the US). If its an individual school or smaller provider they have to wait for the blacklist entry to expire (around a week or two from what I've seen so far).

I've noticed that even when someone does sign in with a Google account to get around this issue, Youtube videos embedded in other sites (Google slides for example) are still broken.
