W11 (Also W10 Now) Start Menu Search - Just Scrolling, No Apps

Morning all - thought this was only Windows 11 but the remaining Windows 10 machines seem to be copying it now.

 

Searching from the start menu seems to be broken, but is intermittent. Sometimes you can press the start menu key and start typing (eg "Word") and it'll appear/results will appear. Sometimes you'll type it and not see it in W10, and in W11 nothing appears in the menu below, little line just keeps scrolling and showing nothing. Users can still open apps from "all apps" but it's a bit annoying.

 

Anyone else get this and, most of all, overcome it?

You haven't got a policy somewhere that does "Remove common program groups from Start Menu (User)"

 

Someone set that and it broke the start menu for students.
