Hi All,

Our Veeam support licence has expired, maning our backups are now failing.
When looking to renew, its asking if we want to "upgrade" to Veeam universal Licences. Is this what we should be doing? We currently are running a licence with 4 Sockets, but would like to backup more VM's, which the upgraded licences suggests we will be able to do but i dont waant to renew and then not be able to get it working how i would like.

Any insight you guys could provide would be gratefully received!

No stay with the exact support licence you are on or they'll try and nudge you sideways into a cloudy more expensive one.

The renewal before last they changed the "description" of the line item to something different.  I told them to put it back to the licence agreement we were on before.  They did.

Mind you if your licence has expired then you will be charged to rejoin the scheme.  Support licence expiring should not stop your backups from working either.

I have attached a screenshot. Its only started appearing since the licence expired a few days ago.

I'll admit Veeam is something we have just lets to run as it just worked, so suddenly looking at all this liecence stuff has me baffled.

 Thats not quite true

Veeam socket licenses came with free VUL licenses too that are only active during paid support

That was confirmed by Gostev a few months back as some people got hit by it when not renewing

Yes I am not fully aware of the specifics as I've always kept my legacy support contracts paid for and working here.  You need to keep your support contract active or you risk extra costs to "get back in" or possibly being shoved onto one of the new £$fangled contracts.
