Ric_ Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 Does anybody have a Thinstation image (Etherboot) that works on VMWare? I have tried numerous rebuilds with different combinations of graphics options but X keeps bombing out on me I need it for the conference so ASAP please
pcprofessor Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 I don't know much about these but you could have a look at http://www.2x.com/pxes/ It's a thin client package that seems to work in a number of different environments Nick
DMcCoy Posted March 24, 2006 Posted March 24, 2006 getting x running on vmware is not easy, you need the right driver and some tweaks to the config. Are there any precreated images for vmware player? I've not really looked at what is availiable for it. I can send you my debian x config if its any use, had trouble with the mouse on it. I can't get it until monday though.
Ric_ Posted March 25, 2006 Author Posted March 25, 2006 @pcprofessor: Thank for that but I need Thinstion for my talk at the conference. @DMcCoy: X config for Thinstation works a little differently
ico2 Posted May 26, 2006 Posted May 26, 2006 I find qemu better than vmware for such purposes, usually much easier to make stuff work, and speed is pretty similar.
