Cable rods

Bit random, but can anyone recommend some good cable rods? They need to be low flex as I want to run multiple cables through a ceiling approx 30m long. A lot of the ones I see online are flexible for tight wall spaces.

Super Rod branded rods are probably the best brand and the black ones are the stiffest.

 

You can by replacement black rods:

Have you thought of getting something like this? We use it to pull cables through underground ducts:

Would it be worth running a rope first, so flexible rods won't have as much load to bend, and then pull the cables back? (with second pull cord attached for future!)

Can confirm the Super rods are decent value for money, especially if you do a lot of cabling. My current rod setup is literally a fishing rod with the eyes cut off! Don't do enough to warrant much more currently!

Could you use something like a cable caster if there is some space above the ceiling? Not sure if it would work if you need 30m, but maybe if there is a hatch or something half way.

Another option might be a whisk attachment for the super rods. They also to a cable tongue which might work. Depends a lot on the space. I've used lengths of trunking or old Pyro cable before. But that might not work over 30 meters. Thats quite a long run if you are doing it in one go.

 

There is a way to cut a hole with a hole saw and then patch it up. There are lots of youtube videos on this. This can get you some additional access points along the route.

I did not know those existed. I may now need to get one and cable ALL THE THINGS!

Would have been useful last week after losing my favourite phillips screwdriver to a ceiling void making a bad attempt at throwing cable through the ceiling  Cleaner than ferrets, although I still wouldn't mind one of those tracked tank things for running cables in voids and trays
