Autodesk Fusion 360 - Has anyone deployed via Intune

Hi All,

 

I know the question about how do you deploy Autodesk (Fusion) 360 shows up pretty regularly on here, but I'm yet to see anyway talk about deployment via Intune specifically. So, has anyone done it?

It seems installing via Intune shouldn't be to difficult, Win32 the FusionAdminInstaller.exe. However it's when it comes to updating I'm unsure how best to cover it. As ideally I don't want to supersede the application each time it wants to update.

 

Ideally we want to control when the update is done. And as such want it to be via the FusionAdminInstaller not the program updating itself. This means we can manage bandwidth usage more carefully.

 

Currently we're using a super simple Group Policy script to install and update 360. Which works fairly well, but error checking the installer isn't something it can do. So I'd like to move away from it ideally.

 

Anyone doing it via Intune or SCCM (Seen as that will likely work in Intune as well)?

It's a pretty rough script to be fair. There's been some better examples on here recently using Group Policy or Scheduled Tasks from a share. I was going to move to one of them but we're trying to jump ship to Intune for application management now. Hence the above request.

We are slowly making the move over to Intune but at the moment having to update Fusion manually so an automated solution would be fantastic.

Well it's 2026 and I've still not found a solution for moving Fusion 360 into Intune. I've found plenty of guides on how to install it via Intune, but managing it's updates seems to be the problem.

 

So, to bump a over a year old thread, has anyone got a working Intune based method yet?

@robyholmes I've not done or tried it myself, via Intune - TBH, I am pushing updates our (via PDQ Deploy) using the --process update - quiet command line despite there being a Auto-Downloading Fusion Update section (6) within the installation manual. This uses a Scheduled Task Script execution, but presumably you could configure similar via Intune; or perhaps setup as a Remediation Script etc.

How do you find bandwidth this this method? When we first tried this, we had machines dragging our connection down as each machine had to download the whole new version of the software (Normally around 1GB). We found it would drag the connection down, fail part of the download then start again.

As mentioned, we currently deploy via PDQ Deploy in batches of approx. 30 computers at a time - so not noticed bandwidth issues. Equally, we deploy Adobe Creation Cloud Suite via Intune with no issue, and that is a much bigger package than Fusion 360.

I've give it another go then. We push out larger apps by Intune as well, but have a caching server onsite which helps with that. It would only use that for the first Win32 install though for Fusion, as any future updates wouldn't come via Intune but directly from Autodesk.

 

Thanks for advice. I'll put it on the list to be tested and hopefully I can provide an update here with how I managed it in Intune.
