CAM Posted January 26, 2017 Posted January 26, 2017 I've just received an E-Mail from my LA about performance measures in SIMS no longer being an importable file. Apparently they will have to be manually copied. Does anyone else know about this as it sounds like a right pain!
ajp233 Posted January 27, 2017 Author Posted January 27, 2017 The Spring Release of SIMS will have a new area (Tools | Examinations | Manage Performance Indicator), which will require setting up. It will give schools the power and control of maintaining their own PI data. Capita's reasoning is that the process of creating a Performance Measures XML file is time consuming and cumbersome, and if any changes to this are identified on results day, it would take too long to produce a new file. Schools will have to clone the 2016 season (which will include all QNs with results, including Non-EDI results) in the 2017 Performance Indicators. Each QN will then need to then be edited for 2017 performance points, equivalencies, A Level thresholds etc. DfE have advised that Performance Points for 2017 should be on the new Performance Points website by the end of this month.
CAM Posted January 30, 2017 Posted January 30, 2017 So what do we do about the new 9-1 GCSEs? If it only carries over QNs with results, won't that mean the whole of Year 10 will need to have their courses added manually to the new season as no 9-1 exams have been taken yet?

Corvidae Posted February 1, 2017 Posted February 1, 2017 Every time they offer something like this I have to wonder if they have considered that the volume of work it creates is all too often far more time consuming than it would be to do it the old way. It might be easier, for someone with less experience, but a real waste of skill for someone who knows better methods.

tombry Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 well, we have Go 4 Schools (who I'm going to start working for in August), but I'm still going to do the SIMS thing - in part to use as training with my replacement exam officer, but also because with the fixed term contract and salary they are offering for a replacement data manager, I don't think they'll get one, and I figure setting SIMS up will at least get them some analysis!
Mirmo Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Even if you use an external method for analysis it's still worth setting sims up correctly so that the sims aspects are populated with correct figures. They're so handy, you can even quickly select them in design reports too. Highest maths grade and average point score etc.
ajp233 Posted June 9, 2017 Author Posted June 9, 2017 Capita have made available an on-demand patch (23087) to address some of the concerns around accurately updating the performance indicators for 2017. The patch can be run on the Spring and Summer 2017 releases of SIMS and can be ran many times. Schools will need to log a call with their support unit to request the patch. For any qualification (QN) that has been cloned into 2017, the patch will update the performance attributes (points, Equivalences etc) for: QNs where GCSE is in the Title and the Qualification Type is GCSE and JCQ Gradeset is JC F Result QNs where Advanced Sub is in the Title and the Qualification Type is AS and JCQ Gradeset is JC A/2 Result QNs where Advanced GCE is in the Title and JCQ Gradeset is JC 4 Result QNs where 9-1 is in the Title and the Qualification Type is GCSE and JCQ Gradeset is JC 40 Result
