Exam and data officer interview

Hello All,

 

I've got an interview for Exam and Data Officer in few days. Is there any advice you could give me for an interview?

I haven't got experience in this role so it is new challenge for me.

If you were Data manager employing someone to work with/for you what would you ask them? What skills are you looking for?

 

Also in my JD are two abbreviations that I can't crack. First is WHS, which I think means Work Health and Safety, second is CYA and I don't have a clue what does it stands for. The only explanation I could find was Cover Your Ass but somehow I don't think this is it

Go into the interview with curiosity and an open mind, it's likely to look like a very complicated and busy role but there's a routine to it and nothing in the role that cannot be learned. I got my first role as a data manager without any schools experience at all so I know it can be done, and that they will give an inexperienced person a chance if they are willing to get stuck in and learn as they go.

 

Not sure without the context but I think CYA is 'children and young adults'.

This is the sentence form the JD : Using WHS assessment programme, produce all year groups’ CYAs and reports and full Annual Reports,

WHS is abbreviation of school name (I should have know that) but still puzzled about CYAs. Could it still be Children and Young Adults?

From the context I suspect it's an internal abbreviation about the students' assessments, so essentially dealing with the assessments and reports

During interview I'll be ask to perform a task. Does any of you know what kind of task there usually is for this role?

"Experience of using Excel and use of formulas to interrogate data" what formulas do they mean ?

Index(match), large, isnumber, if,iferror, countif, count, and my absolute favorite, sumproduct

Knowing vlookup and how to use pivot tables tends to be useful too.

 

Remember that with Excel that there are several ways to do things and none of them are wrong.

 

With the data task they will likely be looking for headline data so don't get caught up in fine details unless that is what they have specifically asked for.

I didn't get the job. I was against 3 people that are already working in that position in their current jobs so didn't really has any chance without experience.
